Have an Impressive First Date: Make it Enjoyable, but Cheap
So, you’ve found someone special and you want to impress her by taking her on a great and glorious first date. The problem is… your funds are low. You’re thinking that appearing cheap would not be a very good first impression. What’s a guy to do? Take heart, a great date doesn’t have to be an expensive date. You don’t have to take her to an expensive restaurant with valet parking and a maitre d’. You don’t have to go to a Broadway play or to Carnegie Hall. There are many fun and imaginative things to do that will get you off to the right start and make the right impression.
Be prepared for an enjoyable time
Before you embark on the date, however, to be reasonably sure of its success, be prepared. A first date, even for a mature individual, can be a harrowing experience, especially if it’s very important to you. The key to surviving is to prepare yourself in advance. First decide that you’re going to have a good time no matter what happens, but also be prepared for anything that may happen. To put yourself at ease and make it an enjoyable time, think about the following questions and others like them to prepare for the date:
1. Is my plan appropriate for both of us? Are we going to do something that is fun for
both and that both can do?
2. Am I dressed appropriately? If it’s a casual date, don’t overdo it. Look casual but
smart.
3. Will I arrive on time? Get her address when you make the date, don’t wait until the
last minute. Don’t make her wait for you.
4. Am I up on my table manners? If the plan calls for a restaurant (any restaurant), read
up on table manners.
5. Do I have enough money for the plan? Even though it may not be an expensive
date, have enough money for both of you to support the plan. Don’t ask the date to
pay.
List of first date Ideas for the person with little money
1. Enjoy Nature
Enjoy a free concert in the park with a picnic basket. Scan the net for local music
festivals and take a basket with sandwiches, wine, cheese, fruit and a blanket.
Go on a hike and end it with a picnic.
Take a romantic walk on the beach at night and wade in the surf.
Seek out the natural scenic areas of your locale, like caves and waterfalls
2. See interesting local historical sites
Go to a museum that you’re familiar with and enjoy telling her about the exhibits
Go to a local historic area and take a tour. Read up on the history first for better conversation later.
Go to a swap meet.
Go to an unusual book store.
3. Have fun at home
Cook your favorite meal

If time permits, several of the above ideas can be combined for an enjoyable and stress-free first date.
